Buy one Get one Free GONE ?
Merchants petered by Carroll again!
Before the last season ended, we reported that we have been informed that the Ohio Renaissance Festival has left the dates off the 2010. We guessed that this was there way of charging the merchants the full season’s rent while providing a shorter season.

Evidently we were right. Kind of sick that we had to point this out BEFORE they bothered to change their web site.
Now for our next prediction. We predict opening weekend will no longer feature Buy one Get one Free during the 2010 season. We also predict that although many folk called the two for one weekend Cheap Bastard Days, when Peter Carroll finally lets people know about this latest assault on attendance many more will know who the real Cheap Bastard is.
How is our track record so on the money? Because the man has made so many enemies that the emails continue to roll on in detailing every bit of his nasty conduct and seemingly unethical business practices. In fact, I half think there is at least one member of the office staff giving us information. Hard to tell by email.
How much longer can the ship stay afloat with a captain who seems intent on sinking the thing? Who would want to buy the place with the horrible reputation it has developed? Maybe it is time to abandon ship folk because if ORF Inc. stock were traded publicly, it’s Wall street mantra would be “Sell, Sell, Sell”.
Peter Carroll before he peters you!

I have been hoping for a while the faire will shut down. I love the faire, but Peter has destroyed it. I would love to see it raised and rebuilt somewhere else in Ohio. My thoughts are in the Hocking Hills area, which are so lovely in the Summer and Fall. It is remote enough to give the feeling of being detached from mainstream society, but not so far out that hospitals and grocery stores are too far a trek. I know that idea would not be popular, because everyone likes the idea of being near Cincinnati, Columbus, and Dayton. But, if it were me and I had the money and the means, I would seriously look into it. There should always be an Ohio Renaissance Faire, but this one, although it would personally hurt me, is just being abused.

Ice Mountain:
Trust that there is a plan in the process to offer another Renaissance Festival in Central Ohio. However, the current Ohio Renaissance Festival incorporation must end its existence before it can take place because it would not make good business sense to spend the money necessary to battle Peter Carroll’s rather silly claim that he owns the terms Medieval and Renaissance in conjunction with a fair or festival.
See this post for information on how Limp Peter sued a church / ministry for the use of the terms, yep I said a church (maybe just the minister, not sure).
