Migration to the Old West Festival
As you know, we encourage you to Boycott the Ohio Renaissance Festival for reasons itemized at:
The Ohio Renaissance Festival Protest Site – http://orfprotest.com
ORC 2323.51 Frivolous conduct in filing civil claims.
Ooooops, maybe Slick Peter doesn’t know Ohio law as much as he thinks he does. As many of you know, we would like you to boycott the Ohio Renaissance Festival due to what is in our minds an overwhelming amount of evidence that Peter Carroll operates the place as what can best be described as the slum lord of renaissance festivals.
Peter Carroll, David Greer, and Lawlessness
If you attend the Ohio Renaissance Festival you empower the rich to participate in lawlessness such that they can line their own pockets with the hard work of those folk who must follow the law.
Peace offering due to Terminal Illness
It has come to our attention that there is a rumor floating around that Peter Carroll, owner of the Ohio Renaissance Festival, has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Although we have for years longed for our day in court, a chance to make the grievances of this protest a proven matter of public record, a chance to cause the authorities to take note of the many violations of law we believe are taking place, we have also planned to suspend this protest should there be a change in management. The idea being that new management should have an opportunity to right what has been made wrong before the protest resumed.
Disbarred and disgraced in Georgia?
Considering how ill most of us feel about lawyers, you can imagine how twisted a lawyer must be to get thrown out of his or her own club (the bar association). Seriously, think about that for just a moment. What would a thief have to do to get thrown out of a guild of thieves? Did this happen to Peter Carroll? Was he thrown out of the Georgia Bar Association? At this time, we simply do not know. However, while we wait for confirmation from the Georgia Bar Association we gave a wee bit of thought to the idea.
Vampires, Zombies, Whoopee Cushions, Beavis and Butthead
In response to a scathing review of the Ohio Renaissance Festival, a former member of Cast describes how management (led by owner Peter Carroll) has changed the Ohio Renaissance Festival over the past four years. Today, she describes much of it as “a pack of highschool kids” who are “directed by Beavis and Butthead”.
Other Events during ORF 2010 Season’s Boycott
This year the Ohio Renaissance Festival will operate from September 4 - October 17, 2010. As you know, there is a growing number of patrons who refuse to attend this event because they feel funding the event funds the horrible business practices of its owner, Peter Carroll, as described, photographed, documented, and shown in great detail at the following URL:
YOUR day in COURT !
Although the intent of this protest has always been to cause the Ohio Renaissance Festival to address our many issues and become a respectable member of the business community, it seems its owner Peter Carroll is not going to allow that to take place. Instead, he seems to be a mad man running full steam into a blazing fire and dragging the Ohio Renaissance Festival along for the ride. We really did not think he could be that foolish. We really thought he would listen to reason, to address the many issues made public by this protest, and fix those things which are clearly wrong with the Ohio Renaissance Festival. Instead, he seems to have chosen a path of destruction and seeks to blame that self destruction on this protest.
Believe your Eyes or Believe Peter’s Lies
A picture says a thousand words.
The Kentucky Renaissance Festival starts in about a week. I have to tell you my ass is dragging. Why? Because I just spent hours helping to grade landscape to make sure it is in compliance with the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act. In all honesty, it wasn’t all that much work but I am old and tired and broken down; so it sure seemed like it. Now I would have been glad to do it for free because I feel rather strongly about the ADA and I know the festival is understaffed for as quickly as it has grown. But the truth is I was paid a few years ago and I would like to share the details of that payment to encourage you to attend the Kentucky Highlander Renaissance Festival.
ORF Wimpers - ORF Protest Roars
Wow – The Ohio Renaissance Festival has started its own Blog. Oh wait, they started it in 2009 and then seem to have forgotten about it. Well, someone seems to have started it in 2009 and forgot about it. To date there has been 1,280 visitors to that blog site. Here there has been about 30,000 unique visitors. Seems like there is little interest in what the Ohio Renaissance Festival has to say about itself. I wonder why.
The Ohio Renaissance Festival on Facebook
On May 4th of this year, we told you about the bad reviews The Ohio Renaissance Festival has been having:
Is Limp Peter afraid of going to court?
As many of you know, I am being sued by Peter Carroll over this protest. It seems Limp Pete, owner of the Ohio Renaissance Festival, believes that calling for union, fair wages, and group negotiations is the same as interfering with employee relations. Wow, he might be limp but the man has balls.
Cast, Stunt Show, Gate Guards – Get your money now!
Victory is at hand!
If you have ever worked as Cast, Stunt Show, Gate Guard or as any other employee of the Ohio Renaissance Festival there is a good chance ORF inc. OWES YOU MONEY! Even if they claimed that you were a private contractor, even if you were paid on form 1099, there is still a very good chance you are OWED A LOT OF MONEY. It doesn’t matter what the Ohio Renaissance Festival claims because there is a federal and state definition of what an independent contractor is and is not.
Renaissance Festival Hostile Take Over
There is again a rumor floating around that this protest is somehow associated with a hostile take over of the Ohio Renaissance Festival. I want to again assure folk that no member of this protest is in any way associated with a business interested intent on taking over the Ohio Renaissance Festival. Sure, we would love it if the Ohio Renaissance Festival were to be purchased by a third party who would operate it with better ethics and morals than its current owner Peter Carroll and his series of front incorporations. Sure, a lower profit each year would make the selling price much lower.
