If a business refused to sell you a product because you looked black, would you be offended? What if they refused to sell you a service because you looked female? Would you be offended? If you are neither black nor female, would you do business with an incorporation that would discriminate in this way? How about an incorporation which refused to provide a service to someone because she “looked” like lesbian? According to one commenter, that seems to be exactly what the Ohio Renaissance Festival did.
Transgender / Cross Dressing NOT welcome!
The Ohio Renaissance Festival, in Harveysburg, OH (close to Cincinnati, OH) has had a very clear rule against “Cross dressing” for some time. That rule, according to the “Rules of the realm” is that such is not permitted. In fact, although it is a long standing medieval and renaissance tradition that he Feast of Fools was celebrated with the cross dressing of a villages most masculine individuals, when my participation in the Feast of Fools weekend at the Ohio Renaissance Festival was noted, the canceled that theme weekend completely.
